    Fun Girls Trip to Taos/Arroyo Seco

    Very clean, large home in the unique village of Arroyo Seco. We needed 4 bedrooms, so this home fit our space requirements...2 bathrooms worked fine for us. The kitchen was well stocked and large enough for meal prep and relaxation around the dining table to chat and enjoy a glass of wine. There was great communication between our group and Kristi the care taker of the home! Big kudos to her for cleanliness of the home as well. The hot tub was extremely clean and fresh. The bed sheets and towels were of good quality and plentiful. The Den is advertised as a bedroom and could be improved by the addition of a wardrobe to hang and store clothing.

    The home, although adequate, requires routine maintenance on the window shades, the Saltillo tile, and the stucco on the patio. There are many loose tiles throughout the home and patio wall stucco crumbling. Additionally, the addition of window shades on the windows in the kitchen would allow better, more comfortable use of the kitchen table in the mornings.

    The umbrella on the patio could not be used safely as there was no umbrella stand to secure the umbrella in place.

    Overall, we enjoyed our stay and recommend, however it is time for maintenance. For that reason we gave 4 stars.

    I could not possibly say enough good things about this place. Everything was perfect. Location is great - 1/2 way in between ski & town. Kitchen was fully stocked with anything you would need. Back yard views were beautiful! Hot tub was amazing. The subdivision was quiet and perfect for nice walks. House caretaker was easy to get ahold of if we needed anything. 10 billion stars on this vrbo!!

    Beautiful House that Needs Some Updating

    This was our second month-long stay at Casa Illuminada. The house is in an ideal location, and nothing beats the gorgeous El Salto mountain right outside the window. Nice, quiet street, and spacious and lovely house. The property manager does a great job in preparing a clean and ready house, and the house is well appointed. However, the appliances are older and often don't work properly--dishwasher leaves grit on everything, washing machine stops mid-cycle and has to have the lid weighted to keep working. These kinds of things detract from the overall experience, as do loose tiles on the floors and peeling stucco out back. For the price, these types of things should be repaired and this type of updating is essential. It's a gorgeous spot and overall a comfortable house, but its due for some TLC.

    A Beautiful Spot Beside the Mountains

    We fully enjoyed our stay at Casa Illuminada and look forward to being back in the future. The house is spacious and comfortable, with staggering views of the mountains. We enjoyed having access to the community pool and tennis courts and the convenience of being just a few minutes from the ski valley and downtown Arroyo Seco. Each night we'd walk out to Rim Road to watch the sunset and meet neighbors--some residents, some visitors. The house manager was very responsive, and the house is stocked for a comfortable stay. I will say that its years of being rented are starting to show--there are some loose tiles in the floors and the patio could use a paint job. But overall it's thoughtfully outfitted and a beautiful place to settle in for a stay in the Taos area.

    Started out with issues with the requirements for pets, required that they be keep in cages when we were not at the house. Reason was the furniture and cleaning issue. It should be pet friendly or no pets. Once there the furniture was not at a level of I consider very new....but we managed with well trained dogs not to allow them on the furniture. Overall stay was good had a couple of issues the infloor heating had an issue before we arrived... it took a day to catch up... space heaters made it comfortable till it caught up.
    Did have a smoke issue with the main fireplace after a heavy snow, I think that was do to the chimney cap being off the (sitting on the deck), it cleared . Location was good, neighborhood was nice and quiet. Not a very big TV for watching any sports... but you should be outside.

    What a great place! Easy access to ski area, Arroyo Secco, and Taos. Well appointed, super clean, excellent support and info from property company and manager. Made the combo of ski trip for husband's birthday and time with our Albuquerque family just SUBLIME.

    Great stay for families. Hot tub is very clean and in working condition. Housekeeper is very nice as she sent something we had forgotten. Only complaint is the beds were very hard. I had to sleep on the couch which was no fun. If your going to ski, the location is 10/10. Will stay again in future.

    This is a lovely home with a well-equipped kitchen that is perfect for families. The home was very clean and my two grandsons really enjoyed the hot tub. Watching the sunrise over the mountains is breathtaking! The setting is serene and lets you really slow down. The location is also convenient... right down the street from charming Arroyo Seco, and short drives to either Taos and the Taos ski area. The property manager was very helpful and able to answer my questions before arrival. Highly recommend this lovely home.

    We really enjoyed the views, hot tub and outdoor fire. The kitchen was well stocked with necessities, the beds were comfy and we had plenty of space for 8 people. We would stay there again for sure. Only improvement I would suggest is some new kitchen knives- other than that a perfect set up.

    We've stayed in Los Altos 5 times and this was the best house we've stayed in. The view is incredible and we were able to cook and enjoy our Christmas meal in the kitchen.

    Problems: Living room furniture could use an update. Water pressure in kitchen sink and master shower was bad. We contacted our local contact about replenishing supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, and laundry detergent. She never responded.

    Overall, we loved the house and the setting. Some of the pillows are a bit dated from use and could use some upgrades, especially on the daybed. Since the front of the house gets the most sun and wind, consider providing a blower to remove rocks and debris. The TV could be bigger and newer. The house was very comfortable and we enjoyed it otherwise and would like to return in the future.

    This house was perfect for our large family. Clean and well maintained. The location was ideal for a quick trip up the mountain for skiing or into town for groceries or dinner. Thankfully we didn't need her during our stay but the local caretaker, Kelly, was responsive to our pre-arrival questions. Overall a great stay!

    Took my extended family here for the week between Christmas and New Year. The house was very relaxing with a great view in back. The garage worked out great. It is an older home but things were well kept up.

    Great Place for Family Reunion

    We used this property for two families with grown children (7 adults total) during a larger family reunion.
    The kitchen and living areas are spacious and well equipped (some newer or sharper knives would be nice, but this is true of many home kitchens), and the whole place had wonderful views, comfortable and interesting furnishings, lovely artwork. The hot tub got use and was a delightful experience in winter looking out at the mountains.
    Our only sorrow was that the exceedingly strict visitor policy kept us from sharing the marvelous space with the larger family group (we would have gone over by only one person).

    We were at there for 3 nights with 3 families, 12 adults and children. Cozy and spacious for 3 families. Good set up even the logs for fire place. High speed internet. Very detail set ups for the people who just visiting for vacation.

    It is a spacious house that fit our needs and expectations. Great view of the mountains across a pasture. Horses were placeed in the pasture later in our stay and enhanced the ambience. Comfortable and easy place to relax.

    the location & the property were both excellent. close enough to town but in the great outdoors. the view was spectacular - across a field full of wildlife toward the mountains. everything in the house worked well, though some items are getting on in age.

    I have rented summer vacation homes in the Santa Fe - Taos area for the past thirty years and never have I been more satisfied than with Casa Iluminada ( note spelling, please!) The location was ideal,and the house was commodious, comfortable and beautifully furnished. I would certainly be interested in renting it again next summer and would recommend it to friends without hesitation
