Week at Casa Montana
Jonathan W from Austin, TX recommends this property

Love Los Altos, and love Casa Montana. It's a very comfortable, very well maintained property with everything that we needed for our time there. The location is beautiful and very convenient, the kitchen is well equipped, the bedrooms and living areas perfectly outfitted and comfortable. A big plus (for us) is the abundance and eclecticism of the reading materials - great books for virtually every reader.
The one negative that I have is that, on our last day, we went to the guest book to say thanks, and noticed that the caretaking staff had gone through the guestbook as well - and made negative comments about the guests who had stayed there. The caretakers have changed since last year, so this is not a knock on the current folks. But it was a real bummer to see, next to our entry from last year, "No tip and left the house a total mess." We've been coming to Los Altos through Premiere Properties for seven or eight years now, and last year was the first time we'd ever been asked for a tip. Fine - we have no problem with tipping. We weren't, however, prepared to do so last year, and it would have required a 30 minute (RT) trip into Taos, and it was emphasized as optional, so we didn't. Second, we washed all of the dishes, stripped the beds, put dirty linens and towels in the laundry room, made sure all of the furniture was where it should be - we did everything that we were asked to do. What we didn't do was mention to Premiere and the owners that there was no firewood when we arrived (it took 3 days for it to show up), the picture windows out the back were dirty, and the jacuzzi was murky with a scum buildup on the sides. Why? Because it didn't bother us that much and we didn't want to make trouble for anyone. Clearly this wasn't a concern for the caretakers. We love Los Altos, and Premiere, and will continue to return. The sniping and griping of the former caretakers, however, was lousy.
